Financial Aid Programs

Student Pell and WNTSG Credit Guidelines

  •     You must be enrolled in a financial aid eligible program in order to charge tuition and the Technology Access Fee.  Consult with counselors when the eligibility of a program is in question.

  •        Students must apply for Federal Financial Aid in order to determine eligibility.  Applications can be obtained from the Student Services Department.  For a quicker response, we encourage you to apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov   Please remember to review the application prior to submittal.  Also include our school code on your application.  (005360)

  •        The mail-in process of the Free Application For the Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) usually takes 6 to 8 weeks.  The electronic process usually takes 2 to 3 weeks.  Because of the length of time it takes to process your application by mail, we encourage you to submit your application on-line.

  •        When applying For Federal Financial Aid, be sure to apply for a Personal Identification Number (PIN) as well.  This information can be obtained on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov.  If you are a dependent student (using your parents tax information to complete the FAFSA), your parent will need to request a PIN also.  Your PIN can be used to sign your FAFSA electronically and to make corrections, if needed.

  •        After applying and receiving you Student Aid Report (SAR), you must attend the financial aid workshops to submit your financial aid paperwork.  The financial aid workshop schedule can be obtained from the Student Services Department.  Please attend the workshops on the day and time designated to the program for which you are enrolling.

  •         Your financial aid file must be complete before you are eligible to charge tuition and the Technology Access Fee.  The components of a complete file are listed on the financial aid workshop schedule.

  •        If your are eligible, you will be given a credit memo authorizing Tennessee Technology Center at Memphis to deduct tuition from your Federal Pell Grant or WNTSG award.  Refusal to sign the credit memo will deem you ineligible to charge tuition and the Technology Access Fee.

  •        The student is required to present two forms of identification (one being a picture ID) in order to obtain the credit memo.

  •        A credit memo must be signed each trimester you attend and plan to charge tuition and the Technology Access Fee.
