The mission of the Cosmetology Program is to train students for employment as entry-level cosmetologists. Both theory and practical instruction are given on hair care, hair styling, nail care and skin care. Students are taught to cut, shampoo, and style hair and to manicure and sculpt nails. Skill techniques for developing and building a loyal and satisfied clientele are an integral part of the course. The course emphasizes safe and efficient work practices, employability skills, along with basic communication skills for the workplace and human relations. Upon completion of the required number of theory and practical hours in each area, the student is eligible to sit for the Tennessee board exam.
